We need to ensure the safety of our children with the following safety measures in schools:
- We need mandatory POSCO awareness sessions every year for the school staff so that any staff member is well aware of the punishments for sexual assaults on children. We need to instill fear of the law to stop these crimes from happening.
- A national database of sex offenders needs to be created and updated in collaboration with states, so that background verification for staff can be done across the country. Criminals in one state should not find safe haven in another.
- Make it mandatory for school management to report any complaints of sexual harassment to the police. The school/college management should be made personally liable for failure to report. Every school/college should form a parent committee to review school safety every quarter.
- These rules should apply to schools/colleges/coaching centers/sports facilities/tuition centers – everywhere that children go to.
